We thought you’d like to know that all of our Rowan Felted Tweed 8 ply is now on sale and that we have two totally new lines of 8 ply in store!

Rowan Felted Tweed

We have 288 balls of this on sale - in 22 terrific colours.

175 metres to 50 gms (50% wool, 25% alpaca, 25% viscose) this flecked yarn is light, warm and goes a very long way. It was $15.90 - now $14.50. We love it but it’s moving too slowly and we need the shelf space so out it goes!

Also, the Colour version of Felted Tweed, which has an ombre effect : we have 42 balls of this in 5 colours on sale. They were $19.90, now $16.50.

New 8 plys

Crucci’s new 100% wool, Brackenvale (50 grams, 170 metres, $9.90) consists of a wool ‘binder’ (a tiny braided tube) to hold wool fibres that are airblown into the tube. It has 12 colours, all with a fleck created by the binder, and some have a more felted look than others. They are machine washable. Jo can’t wait to try them - on 4 mm needles or 5mm needles for a more drapey effect. This yarn is made in a similar way to the Adriafil Woolcot – a current fave (with an organic cotton binder and merino fibres) but which is no longer imported to NZ.

And then there’s Glenorchy, Countrywide’s new extra economical 8 ply (50 grams, 100 metres, $4.10) in 12 colours including a nice grass green that is hard to find. Not machine washable (so it’s unlike Countrywide’s Windsor in that respect).

Other Wool News

The huge 900gram (330 metres) balls of Wild Earth Yarns super chunky Snuggly are back - except for the colour Silver all of which is being sent to Canada! But Bark (dark brown), Stone (mid brown/grey) and Snow (cream) are back – and each one makes a good sized throw - for $68.

The last of our 8 ply undyed Wild Earth Yarns are on sale – were $10. 20 now $8.50 for 50 grams of beautiful undyed cream or walnut or chocolate.

Our stock of Adriafil Woolcot (mentioned above) is on sale for $11. This is a great deal for 50 grams and 150 metres of organic cotton binder and airblasted merino in colours black, fawn, soft blue, gold, mauve or cream (plus a few baby pinks). Ideal for soft jumpers or blankets: customer who’ve used it keep coming back for more while it lasts. (Jo is making a batwing jumper in it using a pattern for a 12 ply mohair – and it’s working perfectly!)
