Yarn sale!

To make room for the Lana Gatto, and make the best use of our lovely new shelves, we’ve had to cull a few colours from some of our standard 8 ply lines, including some Windsor, Glenorchy, Broadway Purely Wool, Crucci Pure Wool, Brackenvale, Beautiful Baby, Loyal Baby Prints, and Gallipoli.

Most of the shades on sale have been discounted by 20 to 25 % from their normal prices. Also on sale are several colours of 14 ply Sloppy Joe and all our 12 ply Nako Ombre. Stock up now!

Sewing machine news

We have so many different models in stock right now I can hardly fit all the demo machines on our shelves! This is because I’ve brought in more mechanical (ie dial/knob turning!) machines than usual as their prices are generally lower than digital machines and it’s noticeable that customers have reined in their spending on sewing machines lately.

Just in is the brand new Singer ME457 Elite – a modern shaped mechanical machine with a heavy frame like the HD models but without their extra-high speeds. At $599, it’s a very good buy.

Also recently arrived are the last of the mechanical Janome MS5027LE, with bonus accessories including a walking foot and ¼ inch seam foot. Now $699, this is a very good machine at a discount price.

At $799, we have the Janome Sewist 725S back in stock. This machine, and the Janome MyExcel ($849), which has been around for years now, are our picks of the mechanicals.

If you’re thinking of buying a new machine and don’t want a digital for whatever reason, we have a great range of mechanicals to show you. We’ll demonstrate their features in the shop and once you’ve bought one we’ll give you a 30 minute free lesson, at a time that suits us both, on how to look after it and use it to best effect.

Lumos neck lights!

I saw the Lumos neck lights on facebook and thought of ordering a set online but decided to contact the supplier to see if I could buy a shipment at wholesale rates – and sure enough I bought 50, which was a bit of a gamble I thought at the time, but they’ve sold out in a couple of weeks. Another 50 are on their way right now. What a great idea they are!

They make any low-light/night-time craft task (or reading) a breeze with their adjustable, different strength /colour lights – and they’re rechargeable! I’ve never had a product sell itself so easily. Clearly we crafters can spot a genius idea when we see it. If only we’d thought of it ourselves! We’re taking pre-orders for the next shipment on the website, or you can email or phone us.

That’s it for now,

Happy winter crafting!
